Straighten your teeth and love your smile
Well, this has come up probably in the last 15 years because when I first started practice, you had a smaller percentage of adults getting braces. And now with braces being so painless and tiny and accepted and people being more facially aware with social media and stuff like that, a lot more adults are coming for braces. In fact, I’d say a third of all of our patients are adults in braces.
Well, there’s a fraction of those adults, either they had braces as a kid, or they don’t want to go through the whole full meal deal of braces. They just don’t like how their teeth look in front. They want a nice smile.
So what we offer now is called fast acting adult braces, meaning that they can get partial braces in the fronts. You don’t have to change their bites. They’re not wearing rubber bands and a year and a half of treatment.
We’re talking four to six months to pretty up a line, straighten everything, what they see in their social six, what they have with their smile to make them happy. Then once they’re all aligned, we hold them there and they can have the teeth bleached. They’re really, really happy.
They’ve been chewing fine for 20, 30, 40 years. They don’t want to change their bites. They just want a prettier smile and they didn’t know that was available.
They thought, oh, I got to go for full braces. No, or I’ll sit there with parents of some of my patients who bring that up. Don’t like a big space to have in front.
You mean I can get that fixed without having full braces? Yeah, just take a couple months and they have no idea. And so we introduce those people to fast acting adult braces and they’re super happy. A lot of our adults do that.
I’d say probably 50% of the adults who just want to have a pretty smile, take that option instead of having full braces.
