Orthodontics play an important role in the lives of many, many children. Children go from discomfort to confidence in a matter of months, but what if you could save them the trouble of having to have braces? What if your child could have a stellar smile right from the get-go? We encourage parents to make an appointment for your child before, or at the first sign, of a problem so that we can address the issue before metal braces are necessary!

Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” We believe this wholeheartedly in our office! We know that we can solve orthodontic issues before they really occur by using preventive orthodontics. This sometimes means removing baby teeth, using spacers, or guiding adult teeth into place. By using orthodontics this way, you will save your child a lot of pain and hassle down the road!

Things to Look For

Every child should see the orthodontist before the age of 7 to make sure that adult teeth are coming in as they should. Some children, however, will show early signs that there is a problem. Here are some things to look for:

  • Baby teeth fall out too soon or too late
  • Baby teeth aren’t all the same height
  • Your child sucks his thumb or finger(s)
  • Your child breathes through his mouth

If you aren’t sure whether your child needs to see an orthodontist, we recommend making the appointment anyway! It’s better to know that everything is fine, than feeling anxious because you aren’t sure! Contact us today to set up an appointment, and let us know what your concerns are for your child! We’d love to help you sort it out!
