Options are a good thing in many situations.
It’s something our patients appreciate at all our Orthodontic Alliances locations across northwest Indiana. In addition to traditional metal braces and Invisalign, you also may choose clear ceramic braces at our practice.
Today, we’ll discuss some reasons you or someone you love may be interested in this treatment option. To find out more, call 219-809-6584 (Michigan City) 219-841-7795 (Portage) 219-440-6512 (St. John) to schedule an orthodontic consultation with one of our doctors.
What Clear Braces Can Do
At the most basic level, ceramic braces are braces. That means they can fix all these problems:
- Open bites
- Gaps between teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Crooked teeth
Like metal braces, ceramic braces work through the combination of brackets, wires, and elastics. These parts apply pressure where needed to slowly adjust the position of your teeth so they are straighter. This makes smiles more visually attractive. Straight teeth also are easier to clean, which can reduce your risk of tooth decay and gum infections.
Why You May Want To Consider Clear Braces
So, why might you choose clear braces over other options?
First, they are less noticeable than metal braces. This makes them less obvious to other people. This doesn’t mean they are completely invisible, but they are more discreet than braces with metal brackets.
If you want to be even more discreet, you may want to consider Invisalign. This system uses clear plastic aligners rather than brackets and wires. Because the aligners are custom-made for your teeth, many people will not realize you are wearing them at all. At the same time, Invisalign may not be as effective as braces on your particular situation. The best way to know is by talking to one of our doctors.
