Clear Solution to Treat Crooked Teeth
Invisalign is a treatment that is more popular than ever because it’s ideal for adults and can treat a number of orthodontic issues. Invisalign is the elite clear aligner orthodontic system in dentistry. It has helped millions of people around the world, and it’s one of those rare orthodontic procedures that isn’t distracting while you’re in the middle of treatment (because each tray is clear and virtually invisible). Today we want to give you a few reasons why Invisalign has become such a popular and user-friendly treatment.
Invisalign Requires No Fixed Appliances
One of the most frustrating things about this orthodontic treatment is having to wearing clunky brackets or wires that you cannot removed. For many people, especially young kids, this is necessary to make sure they are following the treatment guidelines. But adults and many teens would like more freedom in their treatment. The Invisalign trays are made from comfortable plastic and can be easily removed. While braces come with a laundry list of things you cannot eat (corn-on-the-cob, popcorn, chips), you can eat whatever you want with Invisalign. Because the trays are removable, you simply remove the trays while you eat, clean your teeth after, and then pop the trays back on. It’s that simple.
We only ask that you wear the trays for about 20 hours every day to keep your treatment on schedule.
Invisalign is a Short-Term Orthodontic Treatment
Invisalign treatment takes about 12 to 18 months, which is about half the time of traditional orthodontic systems like metal braces. The treatment is short because it’s a treatment used for mild orthodontic issues. These are issues like mildly crooked teeth, gapped teeth, recessed teeth, etc. Invisalign isn’t a treatment that will help with severe alignment problems or severe bite problems. But, of course, every patient is different, and certainly not every dental patient needs comprehensive orthodontic treatment. A good portion of Invisalign patients have a few problematic crooked teeth in their mouth. Some even have had braces before but saw their teeth shift years later.
Invisalign Helps You Maintain Better Oral Health
Just having straight teeth is healthier for your mouth. Whenever we straighten the teeth, the teeth are easier to clean. You see, plaque and cavity-causing bacteria love to hide in the hard-to-reach areas of the mouth. So, when your teeth are crooked or crowded, you could increase the risk of oral health problems. Invisalign makes it easier to clean your teeth because you do not have to worry about fixed appliances on your teeth. People with brackets and wires can sometimes develop cavities because the teeth are harder to keep clean.
Creating Your Invisalign Aligners
At Orthodontic Alliances, our doctors are both skilled at providing the safest and most comfortable orthodontic treatment. For Invisalign patients, we’ll bring you into the office to discuss your treatments goals and share our success stories — of which there are many. We’ll then take some impressions of the mouth and map out the entire duration of the treatment. During the treatment, you’ll wear one set of trays for about two weeks until your teeth are in a better position. The treatment is about as hassle-free as it gets. You’ll have occasional visits to our office to make sure that the treatment is on pace, but for the most part, you’re the work by wearing the aligners every day.
